What are some good examples of how audience behaviour is changing in the online age?

Due to the online age, the way in how audiences watch televiosn shows has changed. An example of this can be seen with the show House Of Cards, an £100 million show, exclusive to the online service Netfllix. Typically shows are picked up by big companies like AMC or HBO, and would be avaliable with a normal cable box, but it is stricly online exclusive. This shows how audience members are ready to move on to the always online stage, where as a couple of years ago, there was always the worry that once the internewt went down, so did the stream, but with the now more reliable internet speeds, streams are less likely to go down.

Audience's have now come to expect to be able to watch progammes on demand when ever they want, which is what happpend with House Of Cards, instead of being relased weekly, all 13 episodes were out at the same time, meaning that you could watch them at your bown pace. Audiences have been known to 'binge' on episodes, meaning that you watch 4-5 episodes at once.

Critical Perspective on Gravity

The front of the webiste of the film 'Gravity' automatically plays the trailer of film, meaning that visiting te site means you will see it not matter what, differnet to the normka film website where they ask you if you want to play it.

Another page of the site allows you to see the various trailers for the film, as well as a number of exclusive interviews from the cast, so that if you to see their view on the film., but don't want to see it on a reporter interview, you can view it straight from the site.

The website also has a page for the offical app/game, and provides a link that leads you directly to it for purchase. The app brings in a new audience, one that may find the game on an app store and discover the film that way. Warner Brothers, the distriburtours of the film, have their own mobile game studio, so there won't be any extra money that will have to be paid to other companies (only a small fee from Apple to put it on the store). The site also has a player along the bottom of the website, which plays the soundtrack as you browse the page. It's a way of getting something 'stuck' in a customers head, adding a music player is an easy thing to do, but it is something that visitors to the page will remember.
